The exhaust gas enters the Venturi scrubber and passes through the converging section, which increases the velocity of the gas while decreasing the pressure. The gas then enters the throat section, where it is mixed with liquid droplets sprayed from the nozzle. The high velocity of the gas causes the liquid droplets to break up into very small droplets, which collide with and capture the pollutants in the gas. The gas and liquid mixture then enters the diverging section, where the velocity decreases and the pressure increases, causing the liquid droplets to separate from the gas. The mist eliminator then removes the liquid droplets from the gas stream, and the cleaned gas is discharged into the atmosphere. Venturi scrubbers are effective at removing fine particulate matter, as well as gases and vapors. However, they require a significant amount of water and can be energy-intensive to operate. They are commonly used in applications such as coal-fired power plants, steel mills, and chemical processing facilities.
